After three successful events in Florida, the UFC 250 is back with a bang. It looks like the UFC will once again conduct the event behind closed doors with no live audience. It is safe this way and this kind of showing is more adopted in the world of sports. Several sporting events have either canceled their campaign or have postponed to a later date. While UFC did manage to conduct events in a span of just eight days. i.e. from May 9 to May 16. The UFC 250 will be conducted on the 6th of June 2020. And the venue is yet to be confirmed but one thing is sure that it will happen in America and not in the earlier venue the Ginásio do Ibirapuera in São Paulo, Brazil.
The government of Brazil decided to use the venue as a field hospital to treat COVID-19 patients. The supremo of the UFC Dana White confirmed he is keen to restart the event. It will be interesting to see who will come on top and win the UFC title.
Amanda Nunes will defend the featherweight title at the UFC 250
According to the UFC website, the fight list has the women’s title match. Amanda Nunes will be defending her featherweight title against upcoming Canadian fighter Felicia Spencer. This will be the first title defense for Nunes since winning the belt in the month of December 2018. The fight date was changed from May 9 after Nunes changed her mind saying that she wants to train for a full camp. Spencer is from Canada and trains in Florida. She is the Invicta FC featherweight champion.
Also, another match on the same date that was supposed to take place between Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC featherweight title. But the champion refused to take part in the fight card saying “I’m in a weird position where I’m being quarantined. Not being able to train properly; not being able to get over to New Zealand. so, are we still going to be doing that card? I just don’t think that’s a good idea for me, especially coming off a broken hand. For me to try and overcome an injury and then go into a camp, and not be fully prepared in the camp, it’s not a good idea. So, I don’t think the Perth card will go ahead, but if it does, I don’t know the chances of me being on it.”
